In the «BIM Kaffi» podcast, Markus Mettler, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Halter Ltd and Delegate of the Board of Directors of the Halter Group, discusses key challenges facing the construction and real estate industry, as well as where its greatest development potential lies.

The industry remains highly fragmented. Between development, planning, execution and operation, interfaces emerge where information is lost, processes become inefficient and conflicting objectives arise. The greatest potential therefore lies not within individual disciplines, but in the interaction between the different phases. Halter focuses on integrated collaboration models and the early involvement of all stakeholders. Design-build approaches make it possible to define objectives at an early stage, align responsibilities and deliver projects more reliably. This is based on consistent information management across all phases.

In addition to processes and models, Mettler highlights the importance of corporate culture. Direct communication, clear responsibilities and the deliberate reduction of complexity are key prerequisites for effective transformation. Halter summarises this approach in the principle “creating value through reduction”. The role of BIM is also put into context. Digital tools are an important component, but only realise their full potential when embedded in appropriate processes.

The podcast provides context on key questions surrounding the further development of the industry and shows how Halter approaches these topics in practice, as a continuous process shaped together with partners across the entire real estate lifecycle.
